What does resolve mean?

The definition of RESOLVE is: to come to a firm decision to do something.

The best and simplest is:  Resolve means “I will”.

Walter Payton is one of the NFL greats. He was the running back for the Chicago Bears for thirteen seasons. After he ended his NFL career he was inducted into the Hall of Fame.  He had an incredible career, averaging 5.2 yards per carry.  In one of his last games, the TV announcer commented, “Do you realize Payton has rushed for more than 5 miles in his career? That’s a lot of steps.”  The second announcer replied, “Yeah and just think – every 5.2 yards he was getting knocked down!”
