When you find a snake in your yard, kill it

An old man is riding a tractor through the field, bush hogging (mowing) the tall grass between the apple trees.  Sitting on the edge of the tractor, above the hub of the wheel, is his grandson Charlie.   Row after row…..

  1. There are rattlers’ I let live. They came back to bite me.

  2. Interesting how they never show the same mercy and consideration you show them.

A funny side note. My granddad use to say, there are two types of snake; a rattle snake and a copper head. If its not rattling, its a copper head.

  3. Find the sword. Take the sword. Use the sword.

We need more Paw Paws today… This article shouts the truth. Thank you!

  5. Sounds like a basic principal with a simple solution. I have come to know a few people who don’t believe evil exists. Once you have met evil, you never doubt its existence.

Interesting analogy. The only thing I would add is that you can’t coach a snake, but that doesn’t apply to people.

Okay, this is another awesome post! I’m taking this advice because throughout my day I’m dealing with snakes. Well, you know what? I’m getting them out of my “yard” for good!

  14. Yes, I agree we have to take a stand against evil and with Christ Jesus we will be victorious.

Good words. However, I do question Paw Paw’s inclusion of shyness in his list of bad things. While I’ve worked thru my shyness as a kid, I know of people who just can’t seem to overcome it. They are just quiet folks.

    • One of my favorite quotes is from Marianne Williamson’s book, A Return to Love:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are meant to shine, as children do. We are born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

      Have a great day.

Thank you for such wise words. Unfortunately, I’ve had to learn this lesson first hand. Thanks for the affirmation that killing the snake was the only option I really had.

  21. What a powerful, thought-provoking blog! It says a lot about the world today and how the liberal generation look toward it. Wisdom should and usually does come with age, blessings

  22. What excellent advice from Paw Paw. You truly will NEVER be happy in life until you do follow such advice. Sadly even who you think your close personal friends are, they sometimes turn to bite you as well. Always look out for number one (YOURSELF) and your family. I really wish it could be different in this world, where you could trust more but sadly that is not the case. Thanks for sharing.

I am glad you reblogged this. The same goes for cockroaches to my way of thinking.

  24. I don’t necessarily agree that shyness is evil, but the overall intent is a solid truth.
