If I were the devil 2016

If I were the devil 2016

If I were the devil I’d go back a few hundred years and appear to a man as an angel of light and teach him things about the real god. I’d interlace enough lies with the truth to entangle a great multitude of people. The teachings would be imposed on others by any means necessary, including murder and rape, all the while disguising itself as peaceful.

If I were the devil I’d place in the minds of people of influence that not offending others is more important that speaking the truth no matter the subject. Knowing it will get out of hand political correctness will take root.  I’d sit back and watch PC become a Trojan horse for all types of evil. PC will become more important than safety.  When one speaks out against political correctness they will be labeled as small minded and accused of hate speech. The media will also attack because headlines sell and squashing issues with common sense is bad for business.

If I were the devil I’d label the killing of unborn children as a woman’s choice and have the government sponsor the whole thing.

If I were the devil I’d begin teaching evolution in college campuses so an entire generation of people would deny the Father. Any opposition would be dismissed as uneducated derelicts.

If I were the devil I would make divorce so common that eventually people would stop making the union altogether.

If I were the devil I’d plant the seed that it is unfair to have Christianity in government and everything should be neutral to be fair to other religions. I’d find one letter and take it out of context to justify the separation of church and state, all the while, laughing under my breathe as the morals slip away a little at a time.

If I were the devil I’d read to the end of the bible and panic. Knowing my time is short lived with no hope of escape I’d try simply out of spite to take as many people as possible to destruction with me.

If I were the devil I’d be sad knowing I had it all….. and blew it.

Good Wednesday

jesus-died-on-the-cross-for-our-sins-scripture-748

Is Friday the day that Jesus actually died on the cross?

Well lets take think this out. Jesus the Messiah said in Matthew 12:40

“For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” ESV

This clearly says that Jesus will be in the grave for THREE DAYS and THREE NIGHTS before he is raised back to life. So let’s think about how we traditionally celebrate Easter. We know that Jesus was removed from the cross and hurried to the grave because it was the day of preparation for the upcoming Sabbath the very next day. Luke 23:54

“It was the day of Preparation, and the Sabbath was beginning.” ESV

So we assume Jesus died on Friday because the traditional Sabbath was Saturday or “Sabbath day”.   But if:

  • he died on Friday afternoon
  • in the grave on Saturday
  • and the empty tomb was discovered early Sunday morning before the sun rose

Even if He rose just seconds before Mary arrived at the empty tomb, that’s still only a day and a half.  But how can that be if He said three days and three nights?

Simple. The Sabbath we are thinking about is wrong.  Let me try to explain. During that period of time there were two types of Sabbaths. The first is a weekly Sabbath, the one we traditionally think of, the day of rest. The second is a yearly Sabbath. This is what we today refer to as a Holiday but Jewish people referred to holidays as Sabbaths because they were still holy or High above regular days.  John 19:31

“Since it was the day of Preparation, and so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the …” ESV

or if you prefer a different version

“It was the day of preparation, and the Jewish leaders didn’t want the bodies hanging there the next day, which was the Sabbath (and a very special Sabbath, because it was Passover week).”NLT

So this Sabbath was the Passover Holiday celebrated once a year and it was on a Thursday.

So for Jesus to be true to His word (which He is):

  • He died on the cross on Wednesday afternoon
  • Passover was Thursday and he laid in the grave
  • In the grave on Friday
  • Rose from the grave on Saturday afternoon
  • and His empty tomb was discovered before daybreak Sunday morning.

Of course the days really don’t mean much as far as your salvation nor is this meant to cause division. Jesus concurring death for your benefit is the important part.

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”ESV

or as I like to quote it:

For God so loved [enter your name here] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Have a Good Wednesday.

Bad Egg Survival Tactics

bad egg

When employee’s jobs are in danger many go into survival mode. No one likes when this happens and it’s an awful feeling but in the grown up world it happens.

Some begin looking for a back up plan and others try to survive.

The two type of survivors are :

The ones who buckle down and work harder. They are the ones who can really make a difference and hang on because they provide a real value to the market place.  These are the ones that are appreciated by their bosses and co-workers. These are the good ones.

The other type of survivor is the one who really doesn’t offer any value. They know if they depend on the quality of their work, their days are numbered and often doomed. So they attempt (and often successfully) to attach a potential problem to their employment ending. These are the ones co-workers and bosses hate. It can stump even experienced leaders and gets everyone at least once.

Some of the things things they pull are:

  • Some type of discrimination
  • Develop a health problem or get sick
  • Report they are being bullied by someone (sometimes even the manager) creating a hostel work environment
  • Develop a disability
  • Have an exaggerated injury
  • Struggle with spiritual issues
  • Develop family problems
  • Report a type of harassment

All of the above are ways to try to gain sympathy and handcuff the leader because if they fire them now, it will shine a bad light on themselves.   For the trickster, just doing the job the right way is never an option because that isn’t in the cards for the bad egg team member. They can’t stand on merit alone.

If they get lose their job anyway, their is always backlash. The bad egg never leaves peacefully.  They do anything from filing a suit to writing a dirty letter to the head of the company trying to paint themselves as a victim and the leader as a tyrant.

The leader has to use common sense and CYR (cover your rear). Document everything and involve the key players in the organization (your boss and human resources). Try to remain stoic and stick to the facts, not your feelings about the facts or your opinion about the person. Those feelings when expressed just make you seem immature and unprofessional.

I’m curious what’s the survival tactic you’ve witnessed?

Fatigue Makes Cowards of Us All

figur hat akku leer

Anytime I began planning a new venture I’m so excited. I believe the I can do whatever I imagine.  I’m energetic, enthusiastic, and motivated. I really believe I can do it.

By the end of a long day when I’m completely wore out my enthusiasm drops dramatically. I think what’s the use. I’ll just play it safe and not risk anything.

Fatigue makes cowards of us all!

So now I’ve trained myself to dream big in the morning when my battery is full rather than when I’m exhausted and in need of a recharge.

I encourage you to get plenty of rest and  exercise regularly. Heck even get a massage to relieve those tired muscles that carry so much of the day’s built up stress. Because when you are tired goals and dreams seem impossible.

Don’t Shame People

Wall-of-ShameI absolutely hate going to the dentist. Hate it! Not because of the pain or the money or the time I spend. It’s the hygienist I’ve experienced. There I am sitting in the chair with my mouth wide open and they are scrapping away at whatever disgusting debris that is attached itself to the back of my teeth feeling pretty vulnerable. After they finish and I’m ready to leave I receive a light scolding about flossing more and brushing better.

Wow. My head drops. All the self confidence I had when I walked in the door has dissipated and I don’t even want to make eye contact with the receptionist as I leave. I feel about 3 inches tall. And people wonder why dentists visits are hated and avoided for as long as possible. For me it’s nothing more than a shame session.

So how many of us shame our customers in the same manner? Even worse, how many of us shame our people who work for us?  People respond better when they are shown how to improve without being shammed.

Hope will not…

Romans 5 New Living Translation (NLT)

Faith Brings Joy

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

Introducing the female line

Christianbred.com

I’m so excited to introduce something I’ve been working on for the last few months. It would mean the world if you take the time to visit the site.
logo
I was lucky enough to be born into a church attending, God fearing, and God loving family in a very small town. I feel blessed to be bred in that kind of enviroment. But what I am so grateful for is that Jesus bred us to follow him before we were even born. That’s why we are all Christian Bred.
I wanted to show my faith through externally without being super abnoxious about it. I have personally seen people become extremely turned off when someone shoves the gospel down their throat at every oportunity and watch that person they are trying to witness to RUN from the gospel and become defensive and even aggressive.
All the shirts I found either looked like prison tattos or a bit cartoonish.
I wanted something with a simple design that provoked thought and conversation. I wanted something that would start a coversation about what really mattered, eternal life with our master.
Jesus said that we are the light of the world and a city set on a hill cannot be hidden nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket.
He also said that anyone who is ashamed of Him or His message that He would be ashamed of them when he returns in His glory and in the glory of His father and the holy angels.
I don’t want at the end of life to stand in front of the King of Kings and have Him point out how I was ashamed of him.
Of course I realize buying something as simple as a shirt doesn’t ensure your salvation but is a great vehicle to witness to the world how you see yourself on the inside and you refuse to be ashamed.
Thank you and God Bless,
Cranston

How to handle an employee Pity Party

pity-party-500x330How do you handle it when an employee or direct report comes to you and gives this long sob story? It may sound something like this:

  • “I really don’t feel good today. My stomach has been killing me all night. I hope I can make it through the day.”
  • “I’ve got a lot going on. My family is bla bla bla. I will try my best to not let it affect me today.”
  • “My back is killing me. I hope its okay, but I just plan on taking it kinda easy this morning.”

Leaders see this everyday and it brings productivity to a screeching halt.  That person still wants to be paid for the day but doesn’t want to be held accountable to quality work.  Not only does this stifle productivity but it poisons morale because misery leaks. Don’t kid yourself by thinking they won’t tell everyone who will listen their not so unique pity party and drag them down the hole with them.  For the organization, it’s like driving around with the emergency brake on. Next thing you know if you let them slide with the lack luster behavior more and more people will start slacking because it’s acceptable.

How to handle it:

When you hear a pity party just ask, “Do you need to go home/to the doctor?”

If they say they do, document it and send them.

If they say “no I think I can’t make it through” say,

“Good. Well if your going to be here I need you to work. I understand your situation but it’s not fair to me, your coworkers and our customers for you to slack off. I’d rather you be hot or cold. Luke warm won’t cut it. Put this issue in the parking lot and focus on your work today. You can go back to feeling bad later just not now. Fair enough?”

If they complain again either send them home or assign them additional task. The whining will stop.
